Search new posts

Hi,

I always use the possibility for displaying new posts. Here with all these Windows-Stuff its a large list for a Linux user. Here is the Link for new posts in ASP forum:

I always have found that the "View New Posts" link at the top of the Board Index is quite adequate - it only returns new posts since your last visit - never that big a list.

and if you want a topic you posted in there is the "View your posts" link - which only returns topics with your posts in.

View new posts shows new posts for the entire board though, the link from Andreas limits it to just the ASP forum

As I have said in another thread, there is no need for a sticky, or even this link. When you open the ASP forum, the new posts or existing threads with new posts will be up towards the top, with the icon to the left of the thread's title highlighted in pink. In other words, you instantly know which are the new things you might want to read. No need for a special link to find them.

All these points being raised about existing board functionality are indeed true - but keep missing the point.

The link from Andreas show ONLY the unread posts, without the ones you have already seen, can't get more instant than that.
If you only want to see nothing but unread posts in this forum there is absolutely a need.

I am not sure I see the point. Our existing system shows the new posts at the top, and highlighted to make them immediately identifiable. They include new threads and existing threads to which new posts have been added.

The point is, it limits to the ASP forum and hides the other forums.

The point is you only need to click on the Aftershot Pro forum to see a list of posts with the most recent at the top and new posts indicated by a red icon - one click and you have what you want with the existing system - it has worked well for the past 7 years - it ain't broke - so why should we change it, sure it shows the older posts below that - so what - you just need to learn to ignore them.

When you arrive on the forum on the board index page - click on the Aftershop Pro forum and there you are - how simple is that - new post highlighted
