View Icons are in reverse order of their F6, F7, F8 Keys!

Postby Rob Greenstein on Sat Jan 28, 2012 11:23 pm

The Thumbnail View Icon Toolbar Button, Standard View Icon Toolbar Button, and Image View Icon Button are arranged, left to right, in the exact reverse sequence as their corresponding Function Keys F8, F7 and F6. This forces the brain and the eye to work in against each other in an opposite fashion.

It would be far more intuitive and make more sense to switch the positions of the icons such that the Image View Icon Button corresponding to the F6 Function Key is the leftmost of the three buttons. Leave the Standard View Icon Toolbar Button corresponding to the F7 Key where it is, and place the Thumbnail View Icon Button corresponding to the F8 Function Key in the rightmost of the three positions.

I totally agree. It's just counterintuitive!

If it is more than just a nuisance, one can redefine the shortcut keys, under file - preferences - keyboard
Enjoy!

In the meantime, you can change the shortcuts to match the toolbar order.

Certainly, of course! It is simple enough to change the shortcuts.

However, once your thoughts become familiarized (from the videos or Webinars) with the F6, F7, F8 sequence and your eyes find the icons in the opposite sequence this is when the subtle yet nonetheless distracting neural conflict occurs.
