Question for admins from a newbie here

Postby ashmoore on Thu Jan 12, 2012 10:51 pm

I have just noticed the title of the forum "Corel User to User Web Board"
Does that mean that Corel devs don't come here and it really is just User to User?
I registered because I assumed that this was where the Bibble board would be coming, so I like many other newly registered Bibble users are trying to figure out what the setup is and what to expect.

Thanks!
old Bibble user
Hmm is that (old) Bibble user or (old Bibble) user?

Hi, and yes, user to user means precisely that. I have the exalted title of Site Admin, which I share with some colleagues here. But in effect, we are all users of various Corel programs -- like you -- who volunteer their time to try to help out. We are most definitely not Corel employees -- although in a couple of the forums -- notably PSP and Video Studio -- there are a couple of Corel employees who answer questions, but solely in their private or personal capacity.

As far as we are aware, the only threads which Corel takes notice of (in the developmental sense) are the wish lists heading each forum -- as in this one too -- or bug-reporting ones and the threads actually started by a Corel developer -- such as the one in this forum asking for comments on the positive aspects of ASP. (Mind you, personally, I find that thread a bit self-congratulatory, though probably useful to Corel in a publicity sense. I see the wish list and bug-reporting as potentially more constructive from a user point of view...)

Given that I had never even heard of Bibble until a couple of days ago, don't expect much of me. On the contrary, as the owner of a couple of digital still cameras which can take RAW photos, and one who has Lightroom, I hope to be on the learning end here. But that is the beauty of a forum which is truly user to user. So I am hoping that after the inevitable first few hiccoughs over registration procedures etc in a forum which hitherto was exclusively PC-oriented, that this will quickly become useful to a wide range of users.

... And by the looks of things, given the quick start and great participation to date in a forum only a couple of days old, I suspect my optimism will not be misplaced!

Indeed we are! :D

Ken,
If you have not already done so, do take a look at the existing Bibble Labs Support Forum - http://support.bibblelabs.com/forums/index.php
This may give you the 'heebie jeebies' but its what we are all used to and probably expect to see continued. :)

Thanks Ken, that does make more sense of things.
Yes there is quite a lot of activity in Bibble forums, especially for just one product.
Hence the various requests for multiple forums to help organize it. Seeing everything in a single forum would be like drinking from a firehose.

No - there is not an "official" Corel forum. Corel pay for and host this one - they just don't administer or visit it on a day to day basis leaving the general running to volunteers

This forum just got an adrenalin shot!

Some of the higher-ups visit the forum but they usually on lurk-mode. :)

There is another Corel research board (Corel Your Way) that has interactive Corel employees but I think it is by Corel Marketing emplyee invitation only...
What is really cool is Corel employees answer almost immediately.
BTW Abiel of Corel is awesome and really tries to help as much as he can!
