AfterShot Pro - Wishlist for future versions

An opacity slider available right on the control panel (rather than buried in Preferences) to control the opacity outside of the crop area when working on cropping images.

Depending on the nature of the image, this is a very handy feature to be able to adjust while working the crop. For a great example of how well this is implemented, take a look at the feature in Canon's Digital Photo Pro RAW conversion software.

An undo button (unless I've just missed it), rather than Ctrl+Z or clicking into menus.
A better history palette.
History linked to individual image, not the entire session.
Better control over jpeg paramaters.

Then again I may just stick with PSP.

More responsive layer edition. When I create a layer, I want points to be added fast, points to be selected fast, points to move fast. It is not always the case, especially when noise ninja is enable on layers. Of course NN must be an algorithm taking a lot of juice. But I find this apparent slowness irritating nonetheless. If I had the option, I'd opt for a slower rendering speed when I edit layers.

Another thing I noticed more than once when editing layers is a small jitter when adding points that feels like my layer is translated a bit. It does not always happen, but it happens. I work around this by undoing and re-adding my point. I'd rather not do this!

EDIT. my original answer was rubbish. sorry.
i had too much blood in my caffeine, so i mixed up "button" and "key".

only for reference, my original answer: you can assign almost anything to any button. almost. but Undo is included.

Undo & Redo buttons would not be a bad thing for those who prefer clicking to keypresses. It's not as if there isn't space in the toolbars for them.

Editable, moveable toolbars would enable most people to get what they want in that respect.

Some more UI tweaks:
  • Ability to float the left panel (Library/File System/Output).
  • Ability to separate the right panel tabs into multiple independent panels, as was done in Bibble 4 (I know, already mentioned).
  • As I mentioned earlier, ability to float the toolbars as in Bibble 5.
  • Ability to remember window open/closed state & position of History, Filter, etc. windows.
  • Have EXIF data on an auxiliary floatable window. A good example of what I am suggesting is how FastPictureViewer handles it.
I know most--if not all of this--falls under many similar more general requests, I'm just getting specific on the items that are particularly annoying for me.

Click to RGB (grubernd's request) - being able to set the curves via picker to make a spot a second color, possibly sampled from another image.

The Canon 7D can be set to record "Author's Name" and "Copyright Details" in every image's EXIF data.

While ASP (and Bibble 5) correctly pick up the copyright data, the author's name (set in the EXIF as Artist) is being lost.

<snip>
Code: Select all
Make                            : Canon
Camera Model Name               : Canon EOS 7D
Preview Image Start             : 65220
Orientation                     : Horizontal (normal)
Preview Image Length            : 1830431
X Resolution                    : 72
Y Resolution                    : 72
Resolution Unit                 : inches
Modify Date                     : 2012:01:23 18:29:12
Artist                          : Lesley Mitchell
Copyright                       : Creative Commons - Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike

<snip>
Any chance of at least not losing that data when images are converted away from the original RAW?

A direct link in the Help pulldown menu providing access to the Plugins site.

An easy method in ASP to sequence the order of the tabs for each of the Plugins installed.

That would be awesome they appear to be in alpha order then Black & White shows up on the bottom.
I would love to place them in order of use. I have three tabs and can't image how it will look later. I think we are just seeing the tip of the iceburg as far as pllugin development... I would love to be able to name the tabs...
