Cannot Load Images

Postby WVMontani » Fri Sep 08, 2017 6:54 pm

PSP2018, Windows 7, 64-bit.

Something here is messed up.

When I try to open an image - any image - all PSP will do is display the bottom part of the image (maybe the bottom 1/8-th or 1/4-th of it) and the remainder of the image is the "Drag a photo or image here to open the file for editing." dialog.

It does matter if I try to open the image by double-clicking a thumbnail, or go the File, Open, etc. and browse to the file. It is happening on images loaded from the hard drive and my thumbdrive.

Out of desperation I even went to far as to uninstall PSP and re-install it. I have cleared out all the thumbnail db files; both Windows and PSP.

NOTHING has worked. Everything worked fine for the first two weeks after I bought and installed PSP, and it just started happening today.

NOTHING has worked.

Have you tried resetting the program, as opposed to reinstalling it? You do this by holding down the SHIFT key when you click on the desktop PSP icon. You should then get a message asking if you want to reset the program. If you have customised your workspace, make sure you save that before closing PSP and resetting it.

No, but I did uninstall and re-install. Would that have accomplished the same thing?

Maybe this will help to explain. First this is the picture I loaded to edit.

Kenmore House.jpg

But this is how it appears when I load it into PSP. Note that only the bottom part of the image appears and the rest is what appears when no image is loaded.

What's wrong?

That is really weird.
Your Layers palette is showing the full image.

Can you try this.
Windows > Tabbed Documents and make sure it is unticked.
Roll the mouse wheel to reduce the scale and make the image smaller and see if it appears.
Lastly with a lot of work space now available try and left click the layer thumbnail and drag it onto the work space and see if you get the full image this time.

I'm sorry. Where do I find "Tabbed Documents" to untick? I have Windows 7.

On your PSP 2018 Menu bar along the top between Selections and Help. Click Windows and one of the choices is Tabbed Documents which can be flipped on or off.
If ticked it shows only one image on the workspace at a time. If unticked you can display a number of images at one time

OK, the reset seems to have done the trick. We'll see how it goes. Thank you for your assistance.
