Auto-Preserve Not Working

Postby BIBLEfreak on Thu Sep 08, 2011 8:39 am

I have been using PSP since jasc released version 4.
I was a long time user of 7, 9 and then X2.

Beginning with X3 and now X4 the Auto-Preserve function does not work. I especially miss this feature when running batch process. This is my primary reason fro skipping over X3 waiting for X4.

The function works fine in x2, but it never did in the trials of X3 or now the trial of X4.
The feature is enabled. I selected "Yes, do this every time" the first edit I preformed. Verified in preferences as well.

I sort of feel like I am going crazy, I have not been willing to stop using X2 as a result, though there are some nice new features in X4.

Suggestion and feedback would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums, :)

There's 2 separate Auto Preserves. If you go to Preferences>Auto Save, is meant for saving changes in the Adjust workspace this might enable what you're wanting, which is separate from the Auto Preserve found if you go to Preferences>General, then select the Auto Preserve from the left pane.

Thanks Ron, I understand the difference. I want the Auto-Preserve, not the auto save. I use is all the time on X2. Trying a fix now Corel sent.

So Corel sent you a fix/patch for this? Glad they did, and hope it works. However I really question this type of practice. Why on earth don't they release the patch for everyone, instead of to just those that have to sort of beg for it..

Beta testing a single fix that will be part of a larger patch later maybe. My auto-preserve works just fine so I wouldn't need it even if it was widely available.

I'm having the same problem with Auto-Preserve. Checked all my settings and they are correct. It seems to have happened with my last update to Corel Paintshop X3 Ultimate. I have sent an inquire to Corel support. We will see what happens.

The fix they sent was just to open remove the check mark for the Auto Preserve (disable it) close the program, open it again, and then reapply the settings (enable it.) It didn't work. As I said, had the same problem with the X3 trial. That and not supporting dual monitors were the biggest contributing factors to me not upgrading. So far they have not responded to my report that the fix they sent did not work.

This gets even weirder now. I decided to uninstall the X4 and go back to the X2. Now I had X2 installed while I was testing X4. Now X2 is not Auto-Preserving, an I know it was on the 7-23-2011, when was the last time I bulk edited over 150 pics. Going to back up my scripts and do a complete removal of X2 reboot and re-insall. This is just to weird. I been doing technical support for over 12 years. There is something definitely wrong here.

I think that different PSP versions do affect each other. I occasionally get a bug/glitch in PSP8 and PSPX2 that I never had before until I installed X2. Now, when the glitch occurs, it will happen in both versions. When the glitch goes away, it's gone for both versions too.

Weird. I run PSP7 and PSPPX3 on the same machine and haven't noticed this one.

How would you know since I never said what the bug was??? It wasn't related to this post so I didn't describe it.

Gotcha. I was just wondering how you could read my mind, LOL. I honestly can't say for sure that the bug that I get was caused by X2 or not. It's just that I'd been using PSP8 for years without ever seeing it until some point in time after I'd installed X2. It affects something that I do very frequently so I would certainly have noticed it.
