"Corel PaintShop Pro X4 has stopped working"

Getting the error message "Corel PaintShop Pro X4 has stopped working". So far no workaround discovered, still does not work.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, fully current with updates.
Memory: 8GM RAM
1 TB HD in each C; and E:
CPU: AMD Phenom 3GHz processor
GPU: ATI Radeon Graphic 3100

First installed in Windows 7 in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X4\Corel PaintShop Pro.exe,
then in
E:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X4\Corel PaintShop Pro.exe (currently)

1. Installed, that error message
2. Patch, that error message
3. Removed, rebooted, e-installed, that error
4. Rebooted, reinstalled in XP, Works in XP! (I need it in Windows 7)
5. Removed ESET (needs to be relicensed anyways, this is priority right now)
6. Spybot shut down
7. Everything else works
8. Have been with PSP since JASC owned it as 4.0 (?) back in the mid 90s.
9. Frustrated with no answers, no solutions.

No AV, Spyware checkers, Malware checkers running. I took ownership of, have all permissions to and "Run as Administrator" Corel PaintShop Pro.exe

First did it work once. Use normal speed for the memory, no cache, no accelerator, no cache for the video card to see if it is an hardware problem.
Is the combination of the AMD Semptron CPU with the HD3100 GPU has some issues especially with windows 7 64bits?
Install PSP4X on another machine that has an Intel CPU and a similar GPU (if you have access to another PC)

It would appear that either patch 1 or 2 did not take. Have you tried both patches?

The version number after patch 1 is successful is 14.1.0.5, for patch 2 is 14.2.0.1


Assuming you have a third party firewall that you disable verify that the Windows Firewall isn't re-enabling as a result. Some third party firewalls give the option within the program to disable the Win FW, with the third party FW disabled it may revert to on.

There is a trick you could try. Go into your Control Panel and create a new account in Windows. In the brand new account try to install PSP. If it works it installs for all accounts and you can even delete the new account.

I got it working, found a swolution some place, forgot what it was, but it is working. Wish I knew what the solution was, but it took a while to find it online some place.
