Not sure if this has already been suggested in here but, since i made a topic, I thought I'd add this to here.

"I'm adding swatches and can't see a way to create groups/categories for them.
I want, for example, to add a group/category called "Sexy reds", so then when i click that, it would only show the swatches I added to that specific group..
I want lots of different groups, too."

How about: Press the mouse wheel button down and drag the mouse around to pan the image?

Re: PaintShop Pro X4--Wishlist for Future Versions

I often want to do simple image editing tasks, e.g., crop an image, perhaps resize it, flood filling some parts, doing little betterments, etc. and save it as jpg.

However, I don't want to start the monster program pspX3 to do this, but prefer a simpler program that immediately starts and never malfunctions. Comparatively, in pspX3 I'll have to wait before all the brushes have been loaded, etc.

So I find myself still using psp4, although I own both psp8, pspX3, Corel Painter 12, etc.

My suggestion is this. PSPXn should in the future be shipped together with a stripped down version of PSP5. This version is fine as it has bicubic resizing of images, and has all the necessary tools for image editing. (The layers function and some other stuff could be removed.) In this way the user could choose to start this program for simple editing tasks.

Improved Eye dropper

Postby Roedy on Fri Feb 17, 2012 1:19 pm

I do quite a bit of eye dropper work, extracting colours from images to use in HTML CSS styles. All works reasonably well for full colour images. However, if the image has a limited palette, when I click to distplay the material properties, the format of the display iss different, and you can't copy/paste the hex colour number. Please make them behave the same way as full spectrum images.

You also might consider flipping from eye dropper mode to paintbrush mode as soon as you *** up one colour. Then you can rapidly *** up a colour and paint with it.

Another thing to consider is streamliring the process of colour extracting, e.g. an eyedropper click copies the hex to the clipboard, rather than taking three more steps namely clicking the colour swatch then selecting the hex and hitting Ctl-C.

background removal improvement

Postby Roedy on Fri Feb 17, 2012 1:24 pm

By far the most time consuming task is converting JPG to PNG with a transparent background.

Ideally I just want to click a button and have at happen automagically, including feathered transparency edges around the object

Perhaps it might work by letting you correct errors by sweeping over a badly done edge, left button down to mean "give more prominence to the object" and right button down means "give more prominence to the foreground". This just tweaks the original algorithm. It is not for fine tuning individual pixels. You get it as good as you can, then revert to traditional tools.

I use Clipmate, so I don't lose the clipboard adding a colour to the clip stack. So perhaps the capture feature could be configured on or off, or triggered with alt-, shift- clrl- left-right middle- click of some kind.

By mail I learned there are some features already using ctrl. I will have to experiment to see if they can be used to streamline the process.

Watermark Tool

Postby eduguedes on Thu Feb 23, 2012 2:06 pm

I would like to see improvements in watermark tool in an upcoming update, as there are few configuration options. I wish there was a more flexible option to set the horizontal and vertical anchor position, as there is in Adobe Lightroom.

An "automatic layer function" would make life easier. This means that you can choose to "paint behind" a colored patch, or "paint inside", and "paint fills", etc, without having to create new layers. I would also like to have a "smooth" function applied on paint strokes, a "straighten" function, and a "link" function. This can be stronger and weaker, i.e. paint strokes are straightened out more or less. In this way the program becomes more "automatic", like those links to the online programs I posted earlier.

Pardon me if this is possible but I can't see it. I can't believe that PSPX4 cannot sort pictures by Exif Date Taken or Digitized. It seems that a program designed for working with digital photos would be able to sort by the most useful information available. Sort by when I took the pictures...... pardon my rudeness but Duhhhh. It would be nice to see this this left out option available....

I would love the possibility to add some effects to a GROUP of layers just like individual ones: like rotate, add shadow, etc. It would be a great time saver. Now, with X4, we can select more than one layer at the time. This would be great to add effects or functions to be applied to those multiple layers at once.

In adapting PSP for Windows 8, which runs both on tablets and desktops, I suppose PSP must support functionality for drawing directly on the screen.

One of the features of X4 which can be very frustrating is that effects applied to a layer high in the stack can affect layers lower in the stack unless you merge the adjustment layer into the layer you are trying to adjust - otherwise you can have an adjustment which seems to be applying during view and edit that disappears/diminishes when you make the final JPG. It would be useful to be able to choose whether the adjustment is local to a layer OR global to all of the layers below it.

I have often wished I could see the file size of an image in the Status bar along with the image dimensions.
I do a lot of resizing and this would be so helpful.
