Audio screeching

Postby tonyhowe on Wed Oct 29, 2008 1:47 am

Yes, I looked at other board entries. And yes, I was underwhelmed by the response (I summarize by throwing up my hands).

I have screeching audio on several DVD ISOs. The problem appears related to newer GENERAL themes but I have not tested all.

The images and mp3s are stored on the same physical NAS. No problems with the images.

So there's a growing number of people reporting the problem and there's nothing by way of suggested action. Lets fix that.

Welcome to the forums,

Generally when there is a problem with MP3 audio, one widely suggested fix is to convert them to WAV. Corel (formerly Ulead) programs seem to handle WAV audio format better than MP3. This is especially true when you are going to include them with video. MP3 can be nothing more than a video/audio file, having the video stripped away. So when you try to insert an MP3 into some video applications, the program may fall over trying to find the video, which is not there.
