No Disc

Postby ChuckTs on Tue Nov 15, 2011 10:24 am

Using: win vista home premium on a sony vaio vgn-fw275d with Corel WinDVD 8.8.0.154.119878. Just updated it via Sony's site to be sure.

Hadn't played a BD in a while and just got a new one. Popped it in, and windvd says it can't find any disc in the drive. It generally sounds like the drive spins up for a few seconds when I first put the BD in, but stops shortly thereafter and won't play it.

I've tried with DVDs which work fine, just BDs that aren't. Would appreciate any and all help, thanks!

Just to isolate the problem, here are some guidelines that you may want to answer.

1. Are you able to play old BD (those that you have watched on the laptop)?
2. The new BD, does it play on a regular BD player?

Because it's either hte BD capability of the computer or the BD has the problem. But if incase you are able to play the old BD then you may want to try and update the AACS of your WinDVD, you can visit http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... leshooting for more information.

Thanks for the reply.

1) No, I haven't been able to play old blurays, not even ones that I have played successfully on the laptop in the past.

2) Unfortunately I don't have another BD player to test it on.

UAC is off, and I'm not getting any AACS update messages when trying to run windvd.

Could I get some support please?

I have a license for the product and am therefore guaranteed support for it to actually work, am I not?

Yes, you are. But this is a user to user forum, and not run by Corel employees. Abiel who answered above works for Corel, but volunteers his time here. So yes, you have a guarantee with Corel, but you need to pursue that with Corel. Here we try to help, but it is volunteer work, and we can only help as far as we can.
