VHS to DVD / Laptop conversion

Postby mark roskell » Sun Jun 18, 2017 2:40 am

Hi,
On the recommendation of the technical staff at Office works, I have just bought the following product -
http://www.roxio.com/ena/products/easy- ... rview.html
I can watch and hear the vhs tapes through the laptop now, but I cannot record.
Here is a post I put on facebook with a few comments - https://www.facebook.com/torontobarbell ... 0692864758
even though i have inserted several brand new discs the technical assistant at office works said i could use for this purpose, i cannot select a destination drive.
Ideally i would like to be able to record and save the vhs tapes to my laptop directly.
Is there something I am doing wrong to do this?
Thanks in advance

Since you have not told us what you are doing - and the link to your youtube clip gives the message that the content is not available it is impossible to say that you are doing wrong

what you want to do is perfectly feasible and i do it quite often -- but you will need some other programmes to edit - convert nd author you DVDs -- what do you have - most of us here use Videostudio but other programmes are available

If you want to use Videostudio then follow the procedure outlined by Lata {Trevor} given in this post --

Hi

The Roxie capture device should have its own software allowing you to capture the vhs to your pc.
I would recommend that you use that software.
As the web site mentions DVD I assume that the capture format will be Mpeg2.

If you have Video Studio (the full version not the trial) then from the capture tab should identify your device. (Source)
The options cogwheel lower right allows you to set our input source, change to Composite, then choose a TV system Ntsc or Pal

You may have to play the VHS to show the video stream in preview window.

The cogwheel adjacent to the Format will allow you to choose Profile, as I say should be DVD Mpeg2.

But you may be best to use the Roxie software to capture the video.
From there you can edit the video and finally burn a DVD.

But first you have to capture / import your video to your pc.
