Movie Factory 7SE "uspecified error"

Postby cdoughertycd on Fri Nov 04, 2011 8:54 am

I tried to burn a DVD (DVD+R) using Factory 7SE for MPG video file shot with new Vixia HFS20 Canon camcorder. I used Pixela ImageMixer 3 software that came with the camera to download it to my computer. I edited it with ProX 3. Now when I try to burn a DVD with Movie Factory 7SE I right away get "unspecified error" and can't continue. I have burned many DVDs with Factory 7SE and no problem using my older Canon camcorder with footage captured using ProX 3. I finally burned the DVD with Windows DVD maker and it worked fine. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Candy

If you are getting this error message, try updating your DirectX and Videocard driver.

My video card driver and DirectX are up to date. I decided to try updating Movie Factory 7SE but could not find update, so then uninstalled it and was going to re-install thinking that might solve it but now I can't find the link to install it. I think I originally got the link here in the forum. I have been using it for quite a while with Pro X3. Can you help?

Thanks

I found the link to MF 7SE and have downloaded it. I'll let you know if that helped with my "unspecified error" problem.

Uninstalling MF 7SE and reinstalling still gives "unspecified error", what do you think I should try next?

So I updated DirectX again and made sure my video card driver was up to date again. Still had the problem of unspecified error after that (last night).

So then last night I decided to try rendering the project at WMV 740 versus 1080 (I think it was 740). Anyway, it worked in MF 7SE, so I think the problem was the higher resolution rendering in combination with the higher HD mode I shot the video in with my Canon Vixia HFS20 camera. Problem solved. I think what I'll have to do is save money for a 4 quad core computer with beefed up video card and memory. I'm pushing my dual core to the limits with less than optimal video card I think. Helpful person at local camera store, Samy's, said problem has been cameras are ahead of computers in their development, takes consumers a while to catch up. I'm in that boat I think. She said my camera was made to do Blue Ray.

If it weren't for this forum I would have given up, thanks for suggestions which make me continue to solve it.
