MF7|After joining two DV .avi-files, project can't be loaded

Postby D.E. on Sun Jun 17, 2012 11:41 am

After adding two .avi-files, cutting something from beginning and end, then joining both and saving project, after opening the the saved project it loads and MovieFactory 7 Pro freezes in the "Select source and import (Step: 1/3)"-screen.
When opening the project file directly the loading progress bar shows up and after 100% nothing happens except a invisible DVDMF.exe in task-manager.

It happened in the past with other projects every time when joining DV-avi-files, saving the project and trying to load it.

(C2Q 8200, 4 GB RAM, Win7 x64, enough hard disc space)

Try joining the files with somethink like movie maker and then importing just the one file. You may need to sue another app, depending on your OS, as you haven't filled in the details.

You may want to download all the updates for your DVD MF 7 pro, to make sure it's properly patched. You can visit http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... pid=400012 for the list of updates.

I already have both Service Packs, sorry, should have mentioned that.

A workaround was joining the cutted .avi-files, exporting them as one MPEG2-file, and using the .mpg-file for creating chapters and menu. In the end, the whole video doesn't need to be reencoded because of the "Do not encode compliant MPEG2-files" (or something). Still an uncomfortable feeling to make the project with a .mpg-file instead of raw material :) but I guess it doens't matter at all ?
Now the next wedding-dvd(s) with sth. about 5 hours want to be created ^^ will try again if opening project with joined .avi-files will fail and I have to export the whole video...
