File not found. Check the file name and try again

Postby igif » Sun Mar 20, 2011 7:54 am

I'm using GA5.

I wanted to add a bunch of frames at once. But it says "File not found. Check the file name and try again."

That's not something that happens all the time to all the files. Only sometimes and to some of the files. So I'm wondering what causes this.

Now, the only way I can add all those dozens of files is when I add them manually 4 at a time. (Four at a time, what's up with that?)

That takes way too much time.

If you manage to find a solution to my problem, I may or may not quote your post and add a bold red exclamation mark. For free.

As I've been unable to duplicate your problem, I can't say what the cause is or the solution.

Are the files you are adding all in the same folder? Same file type? Are the file names long?

All the files are in the same folder. All are JPGs.
File names are long indeed. 50+ characters.
You're suggesting there is a name length limitation involved?

Ooh, actually that's it. The file names were too long. I renamed the files and now I can add them all at once. Thanks a bunch.

Glad to have hinted at the problem! ;)

I run into that issue now and then at work - people find they can't open files, because they are in subfolders within numerous subfolders, all with ridiculously long folder names, and overly long file names, to boot. Keep them short, but meaningful!
