Pro X5 but in printing DVD labels

Postby cdoughertycd on Wed May 30, 2012 7:39 am

Hi: I really like the disc label printing feature in Pro X5. I am using it a lot, but am finding it occasionally changes the color on a text box or deletes the text box altogether. I always ask it to print both labels, sometimes it happens on one and not the other or on both. I am wasting expensive labels. I thought it might be my ink cartridges, changed them but problem still exists. Everything else I print from my other programs work fine. My printer is a plug and play HP 6940. I'm thinking it's a communication problem between Pro X5 label printing software in the DVD burn feature and my printer.

Any ideas? or anyone else having same problem?

thanks,
Candy

don't use the X5 pro disk labelling function. my Canon printer comes with a great disk printing app so have used this for all my disk printing.

Hm, I'm going to keep trying to use the Pro X5 label feature out of desperation, but will look for a template. I formerly used Powerpoint but too much time needed to get text and images in correct locations for two on a page.

Hi Candy

Set up your PC's printing preferences to use Print Preview,

Then when you print the label the preview should show first, you can then see if the text is included before actually printing.

If its missing then cancel the printing to re-edit the label.

I dont use labels but print directly onto the disc, Printable discs being available, you need a printer that supports this option.

Hi Trevor:

When I'm in the Pro X5 printing label feature, I don't see where I can see a print preview and I don't see where I can change the properties of the printer or select the printer if I have more than one, like I can do with other programs like Word, Excel, etc.

I can print Lightscribe labels but I don't see where I can tell it to print Lightscribe from Pro X5.

Am I missing where that is? I'm getting to the Pro X5 label feature from the little printer icon at the bottom after I go into share, DVD etc.

thanks for your help,
Candy

Trevor, I found where I can choose the printer, properties and label type. I'll keep playing with it.

Hi Candy

The print preview is set through your PC 's printer properties not Video Studio.

Go to your Control Panel and select Devices and Printers
Right click the printer you are using and select Printer Preferences
There should be an option to tick Print Preview.

Each time you try to print it should preview first, allowing you to check the details.

Trevor, thanks so much for your help. I can now see the print preview before printing and it's printing ok. Hm, interesting, maybe for the label feature in Pro X5 I need to have the print preview on. In the meantime I built a template in Powerpoint and used that but will try the label feature for my next project. I was really happy when that feature was added to Pro X5 so am kind of determined to make it work.

I have tried printing labels via Lightscribe and my DVD drive. It works but just not clear enough, hard to read and took too long to print. That's for another chapter.
