You could only do it if the music is on the soundtrack of a video... VS is a video editing package, not an audio ripper. Windows Media Player and a variety of other packages can do that for you.

Hi Ken:
The audio is on my videos and I want to save the audio as a MP3 audio file separate from the video.

The only sensible sound file output option that VideoStudio gives you is .wav - you would then need to use one of the many free audio converters available on the internet to convert that to mp3.

To create a .wav file in VideoStudio - put the video in the timeline - click on the "Share" tab - in the options panel choose "Create sound File" - use the dialogue box which appears to choose folder and name for your wav file - click 'save'

You can save to an audio file an MP3 stream wrapped in an WAV container. Your car stereo might play it if you change the file extension of the files from .WAV to .MP3. Quicktime Player recognizes it as an MP3.

Share > Create Sound File > Options > Compression Tab: MP3 (Mpeg Layer 3)

It takes a long time on my system before the Compression tab is populated with controls that allows me to select from several formats.
