Tips for project output as an AVI file

Postby andyfranks on Thu Apr 12, 2012 12:44 pm

Hi - I have captured 16:9 DV CAM footage from a Sony A1 camera using ULead Video Studio 11, using a firewire, as AVI DV files and edited it in a project in the same format:

PAL (25 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 16:9, 25 fps
Lower Field First
DV Video Encoder -- type 1
DV Audio -- PAL, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo

I want to render it into the same to create an AVI master file.

I don't know about Audio data or Video data rates and how to set them for capture or rendering - I'm pretty new to editing.

Does anyone have any tips in ULead for creating the best quality output file at this stage, or do I just do a Same as Project Properties render? Are there any drawbacks / issues to those tips?

I'm using my HP Probook 4710s with 32 bit Windows, Intel Core 2 Duo T5870 / 2GHz (Dual Core) processor, 3GB Ram DDR2 SDRAM 800 MHz, 2MB-L2 cache memory, 512 MB video memory if that helps.

Many thanks, Andy

dv,avi files have only one data rate, choosing dv.avi will give you this.

When I set the Project Settings to 'Uncompressed', the video image is formed inside a kind of black letterbox - is it OK to render the file as 'DV Video Encoder -- type 1', which produces a proper size image with no left and right border?

Hi Andy

There are several ways to render the video using the original video files properties.

Share Create Video File - Same as First Video.
The save window should indicate the properties in the lower panel and should be the same as your files properties you listed earlier.
------------------------------------
From Tools-- Make Movie Manager create your own template, using the Add option will allow you to create a template to your video file properties.
The template will be available from Share Create Video File adjacent to the Custom option
-----------------------------------
The compression type is DV Video Encoder-type 1, will create a file at 13 Gb per hour.
Uncompressed Avi is 65 Gb per hour.

----------------------------------

Read My Quick Guides relating to DV-Avi (link below)
You will also find some details in using the Movie Manager

There are well over 800 different types of ***.avi file.
dv.avi is one.
Uncompressed is another.
You want to stick with dv.avi, you won't benefit by going to uncompressed.
