I forgot I have v11.5 and am getting some good results creating my own SmartScene menus. Can I import DVD-video to use in a new DVD and make minor in/out changes without it reencoding? Otherwise, I'll have to dig out my backup of avi files and start anew since the original source is Hi8 and can't be re-encoded. Thx

I guess it depends on exactly what you mean by 'minor in-out changes'. Could you explain exactly what you intend to do, please?

Otherwise, any changes, even minor changes and the production of a video to reflect those changes, will require some re-encoding. However, you could use VS's SmartRender which means only those parts of the video where you have made your "minor changes" will be re-encoded, and the other parts left alone.

I imported DVD-video into the DVD maker and cut off 10 seconds at the front using it's in/out markers. It's not in the editor's timeline...I guess I could check the burning folder it makes rather than wasting discs. Thx
