I am having the classic audio sync issue when taking an MPEG (MPEG2 video, audio sampled at 48000Hz 16bit) and adding it to a project in VS8.0 with a menu that contains no audio. The beginning of the video is ok... but it gradually gets out of sync so that when you reach 45m, it's about 3-5s out of sync.
End off quote.
For nearly a YEAR I have tried several programs...$$ Pinnaclesys' Studio 9 to Ulead MSP8 and several 'try before you buy' demo programs. ALL have produced the seemingly universal OOS condition cited. It doesn't matter the capture mode... AVI.. Mpeg.. the immedite playback is ALWAYS the same awith ANALOG (VHS Tape) Capture. The audio progressively lags the video. Not so with DIGITAL (DVD source), no lag of audio.
I have plenty of horse power "under the hood" of this computer. Athlon 2800XP, large DMA 100 HDs, SB audio card, etc. I am using the Pinnaclesys capture card.
Until something can be done about this OOS of analog captures I am resigned to abandon the efffort.
It is strange that the VCR to DVD recorder I just bought can copy a VHS tape without the OOS lag and NONE of the computer programs can do this! Do we have some copyrighted thing fighting us here?
Call me disgusted!
